Overview
We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support our attorneys with daily administrative and legal tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have experience handling legal documents, scheduling, and communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
Responsibilities
• Prepare, format, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, correspondence, motions, and discovery materials
• Assist with e-filing in state and federal courts
• Maintain attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, and client meetings
• Manage case files and ensure accurate organization of all records
• Answer phones, take messages, and communicate professionally with clients and legal staff
• Draft basic correspondence and maintain email communication on behalf of attorneys
• Track deadlines, reminders, and important dates
• Organize and prioritize incoming mail, documents, and tasks
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times
• Provide general administrative support, including copying, scanning, data entry, and billing assistance
Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of legal terminology and legal document formatting
• Experience with court e-filing systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Strong multitasking and time management abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High level of discretion and professionalism
Preferred Skills
• Experience in litigation, personal injury, workers' compensation, insurance defense, or related practice areas
• Familiarity with law firm billing practices
• Experience supporting multiple attorneys at once
