Our client is seeking a Title Review Associate to focus primarily on commercial title examination, with occasional work on residential files. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys reviewing property records, identifying legal risks, and resolving complex title issues. If you have a strong background in real estate law - particularly in title curatives, insurance negotiation, and survey review - this could be a great fit.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State

  • Strong academic credentials

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on title reports, curative work, and real estate surveys

  • Experience in:

    • Title examination, issue identification, and risk assessment

    • Lease negotiation in real estate transactions

    • Reviewing and analyzing real estate surveys

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including data entry and pivot tables)

  • Familiarity with database tracking systems and ability to maintain organized, accurate documentation of title review work

  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other practice areas to provide comprehensive client solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze title reports, commitments, and related documentation

  • Identify title defects, exceptions, and encumbrances; assess legal risks and propose practical solutions

  • Assist in the negotiation of title insurance terms and coverages

  • Draft title objection letters and communicate with title companies, underwriters, and opposing counsel

  • Conduct legal research on title-related issues and advise internal teams on legal developments

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of title review work and track associated deadlines
