Job Overview: The legal assistant provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal professionals, contributing to the efficient operation of the legal office.
Responsibilities:

Document Preparation:
- Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings.
- Prepare and format legal briefs, contracts, and other legal paperwork.

Research:
- Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources.
- Summarize legal documents, statutes, and case law.

Client Communication:
- Communicate with clients to schedule appointments and gather necessary information.
- Maintain regular contact with clients to provide updates on case status.

Case Management:
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents.
- Assist in managing and updating case databases.

Court Filings:
- Prepare and file legal documents with the court.
- Monitor deadlines for filing and serving legal documents.

Calendar Management:
- Schedule meetings, court appearances, and other appointments for attorneys.
- Ensure deadlines are met for court filings and other legal obligations.

Administrative Support:
- Answer phones, take messages, and handle general inquiries.
- Manage attorney calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements.

Billing and Timekeeping:
- Assist in preparing client invoices and tracking billable hours.
- Maintain accurate records of time spent on various tasks.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with attorneys and other legal staff to ensure smooth workflow.
- Collaborate with other legal assistants and support staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certification in paralegal studies is preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
- Familiarity with legal databases and software.
