We are seeking aTexasTitle Insurance Underwriting Counselto join a well-established residential and commercial Title Insurance and Escrow company in Plano.This is an ideal role for an individual with a background in sophisticated real estate transactions and who has the confidence to work independently in a dynamic environment with a range of professionals, both internal and external.

Basic Function:

Provide Underwriting support to the Escrow Division; support the Production Division Manager in his efforts to achieve established Company and Division goals and objectives; plan direct and control the activities of the Examination and Policy Departments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • You will be involved in a wide range of critical underwriting functions and decisions
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and other external clients in order to attract, develop and retain profitable business for the region
  • Participates with Senior Management in underwriter initiatives around product development, processes, underwriting policy, and strategy.
  • Responsible for communicating information related to underwriting from corporate underwriting to subordinates.
  • Plans and hosts regional underwriting meetings to communicate information related to underwriting.
  • Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
  • Provide underwriting support and expertise to company personnel and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
  • Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
  • Providing leadership and guidance for the region
Qualification and Experience
  • Law Degree required.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Texas.
  • 3+ years title underwriting experience.
  • Licensed to practice law, in good standing.
  • Demonstrated advanced practical experience with concepts, practices, and procedures of real estate title.
  • Excellent leadership skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions.
  • High level of business acumen, strategic ability, ability to develop others, and influence change.
  • Exercises a high degree of confidence, sound judgment, and decision making.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to build relationships and create rapport.
  • Requires abstract thinking and creative solutions. Ability to 'think outside the box' and make unique yet sound decisions to resolve complex issues.
