Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our finance team as an Accounts Payable Check Processor. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing and recording payments, ensuring timely and efficient handling of vendor invoices, and maintaining compliance with financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform essential accounting functions such as recording, analyzing, and classifying payables
  • Conduct account reconciliation and other tasks related to the procure-to-pay process
  • Execute basic clerical duties associated with accounts payable, including filing and scanning

Key Duties:

  • Process all check and ACH check runs on schedule for accounts payable
  • Ensure company integrity during check runs by verifying AFBA cash position before processing checks
  • Obtain management approval before mailing checks
  • Process remote check payments and promptly notify the office when checks are ready to print
  • Transmit all ACH payments to the bank efficiently
  • Handle special checks, including FedEx, check enclosures, and special mailings, utilizing materials provided by AP Processors
  • Process zero checks as required
  • Review returned checks for address or vendor corrections and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Address corrections by forwarding them to the Vendor/Customer entry clerk; for wrong vendor issues, forward to AP Supervisor for reprocessing
  • Review and balance positive pay reports, actively researching and resolving discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with internal control and SOX requirements as per established policies
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned or reassigned by the manager

Requirements/Education:

  • Preferred experience with Lawson
  • Highly valued skills include strong communication, personal initiative, methodical and detail-oriented approach, and high analytical capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, work collaboratively in a team, and also independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Self-disciplined with a strong work ethic
  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, including a focus on Accounts Payable.
