Accountant / Bookkeeper

Responsibilities:

  • Full Cycle Accounting (A/P and A/R);
  • Daily Bookkeeping and Record keeping
  • Filling bank statements.
  • Excel/Ledger Entries
  • preparation of closing/settlement statement
  • Prepare and submit GST filing and posting and other source deductions;
  • Other accounting duties, as required;
  • Process full cycle Payroll for 15 full time salaried employees using softwares as Sage 50, including ROE's, T4's, etc;
  • Bank Reconciliations;
  • GL account reconciliations and month end journal entries into GL;
  • Month end journal entries, assist with the preparation of financial statements.

Requirements:

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel);
  • 3+ years' of relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounting;
  • Demonstrate focus, positive attitude, professionalism, strong communication skills and teamwork; and,
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset;
  • Bachelors or equivalent degree required with bookkeeping/accounting focus preferred;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operations;
  • Highly focused attention to detail;
  • Strong and current knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for charities;
  • Experience working with senior executives and/or volunteer board of directors;
  • Salesforce experience (asset);
  • Bilingualism is an asset;
  • Strong experience using QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and Sage Accounting;
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills (written and oral).
